My elephant, “I’m All Ears” (or Neil, as he was fondly called) was situated at St Peter’s Place (in the restaurant/culture quarter of Leicester City Centre) for all to see.
The Trail ran all through the Summer from June to 21st September, where all the elephants were then “gathered in” to bring them altogether at LOROS for a massive “Farewell Weekend” event on 4th and 5th October.
Despite the terrible weather and the onslaught of Storm Amy, the weekend was wonderful, with lots of visitors.
Then…………
The Auction Night.
On Wednesday 8th October, the OFFICIAL auction of all 40 elephants took place. I felt honoured to receive a (super spangly) ticket, so my partner and I attended, what turned out to be a very very special evening to experience these incredible sculptures being sold to raise much needed and vital funds for LOROS hospice.
I’m All Ears was LOT 14……and you could hear a pin drop, as the bidding went from a starting bid of £1,500 to £7,000………then…..
I am utterly awe-struck, thrilled and truly grateful to the buyers of “I’m All Ears” who paid an INCREDIBLE £10,000 to own him!
The 40 elephants collectively raised an extraordinary £286,800 for LOROS. What an extraordinary Trail and experience.
Thank you to the brilliant SRL Team, LOROS and Highcross for all their hard work, it has been an absolute pleasure to work with you all.
