Well! What can I say?!
The Nevill Holt Festival always spans the first 3 weeks of June in a little village, just outside of Market Harborough…….and this year, it was more jam-packed and extraordinary.
From the inaugural opera in the first week (how the Festival originated), to the many many talks from some incredible celebrities, to the scrumptious food on site and walks/tours of the glorious house and gardens- there was so much laughter, pleasure and really something for everyone.
I went to the Festival with 3 metaphorical hats on……firstly, as a visitor to see the gorgeous Clare Balding and Rebecca Adlington in conversation (yes, they are as lovely in real life) and the fascinating reportage illustrator, George Butler (I illustrated all of them…..and all three signed their sketches. I had a real fan girl moment!)
My second hat was as part of a small group of artists from Northants and Rutland Open Studios, who went to sketch in the gorgeous NH gardens……whilst painting, I had the pleasure of long conversations and then a tour of the gardens, with Head Gardener Andy.
And lastly, I was asked back to the Festival as an Artist in Residence for my 2nd year running, to capture some of the visitors/scenes/reactions on the last day- 21st June. Not only the longest day of the year (oh my goodness, the waning light over the vista, from the haha is something to behold-) but also Father’s Day, the vibe was lovely. I had my own tent again, showcasing some of my work and wares and despite the heat, I had THE BEST TIME.
I can only see this Festival becoming bigger and better each year…..and hope that I can remain a small part of it!
