I had the pleasure of being ‘recommended’ to apply for this Creative Practitioner role via a friend, who thought the project brief (How to engage and inspire young people – 11-16 years – in promoting Leicestershire’s ‘Net Zero’ message and current plan) sounded ‘right up my street’.
Almost immediately, I thought I’d love to work with the young people on a ‘zine/comic book. This would not only inspire the Young People in getting their ‘message’ out there and promote their artwork, but would also reach a huge number of people and could prove accessible to many more.
I was thrilled that my idea was chosen and I am now working with a group of young people at the gorgeous library and museum space in the Symington building in Market Harborough. We started the workshops last week and they will run for a further 7 weeks, culminating in a ‘Launch event’ in December, in which the completed Zine will be presented to the young people taking part.
If you know of anyone aged between 11-16, there are still a couple of places available- the workshops are FREE and take place on a Monday afternoon, between 4-5.30 pm.
